Nick Howe

ArtForm: CityShowcase Act/Composer

"Nicholas' infectious exuberance can't help but draw you in" Jamie West-Oram

"His songs are completely original" Les Reed (OBE, one of the greatest songwriters of all time)

"Nicholas Howe is a startling and original talent of the first order. With brilliant songs and an awesome stage presence, he is undoubtedly an ascending star of great magnitude"  Tim Wheater (Award winning composer, teacher and public speaker)

“Writing music is amazing, it's quite cliché but for me, song writing is probably one of the most therapeutic things I could do. It’s amazing how when something bad happens you can use it to be creative"

Nicholas is able to be self-expressive in ways that connect with audiences matched with a stage presence that will make even the harshest critics step back for a moment and watch. His sound  has been described as a marriage between The Who and Jason Mraz. His catchy songs and contagious spirit win fans over instantly.  In the last year he has performed over 300 gigs in 9 countries playing a plethora of venues and festivals including the Natural History Museum, Portsmouth Guildhall, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Ronnie Scott's.  He has worked with an array of songwriters including the hit songwriter Sam Brown .

Nicholas is well known for the energy in his live performance and it's therefore no surprise that he has qualified for the finals of various national competitions, performed on national television and serenaded the queen of Sweden and Bill Nighy.

Amongst a booked out festival tour which includes performances at Glastonbury and his EP launch, he is currently organising an innovative unconventional tour with the aim of performing in museums, art galleries, skyscrapers and places of natural beauty all over the world. The project aim is to take a different slant on touring  creating unique visual experiences with the goal of raising money for charity and capturing it all for a feature film. In December he will be setting up a crowdfunding project to raise money for the project - he has various producers and sponsors already interested!

Nicholas interests expand well beyond what might be expected as he not only campaigns too keep music free on the streets of London which lead him to appear and perform on ITV News,  but also campaigns to help preserve the iconic south bank skate spot  which broke the record for the most UK objections to a planning application. When he was 16 he went to india to teach and help build a school and after a month he ended up performing at one of the biggest festivals in Southern india. His setlist included a song he wrote throughout the trip!

Nicholas was born into a family of performers, his father, Michael Howe, a successful actor, was also signed to EMI in the 70’s, his grandmother, Joan Turner, was the highest paid female entertainer of her time and his uncle, Mickey Feat, is a top session bass player who has worked with the likes of Paul McCartney, David Gilmour and Van Morrison, currently touring with The Straits.
