General Information
I am a professional ceramist who has extensive experience in studio practice, arts education and exhibiting and selling ceramics.  This includes taking part in International Ceramics Fairs in Europe as well as exhibiting and selling work in London through galleries, retail outlets and regional craft centres.  I also take part in ‘Open Studio’ events as I enjoy meeting local members of my community.  I am a member of the ‘London Potters’ group and exhibit work at the annual exhibition of London Potters at the Morley Gallery in Waterloo, London.

I am now focusing on my studio practice ,making distinctive ceramic thrown -ware, tile panels and jewellery from my studio in South East London. Influences on my work include everyday sensory experience, organic forms and historical artifacts.  I love exploring different ceramic techniques, shapes, textures, colour and pattern and am constantly evolving new designs through the making process.

My pieces are made in stoneware or porcelain and are high fired for strength.  Some pieces are painted with underglaze colours and oxides and are fully glazed, partially glazed or left unglazed as appropriate to the piece.  The practical pieces are made to be tactile and enjoyable to use: texture weight, balance, scale and shape in handling are all important, as is durability.   I have undertaken private and public commissions for my tile panels and I enjoy using digital photography (made into decals) within panels.

My porcelain and silver jewellery is unique and varies in design and form from batch to batch: some items are single painted pieces and others are made from several pieces, e.g. stained porcelain combined with lustre and/or painted pieces/ceramic decals etc.  All fittings are sterling silver or gold alloy.

This year, I am exhibiting my work in a number of  ceramic festivals in Europe, as well as at venues in the U.K.  In the spring I exhibited in Gouda in Holland and Cecina in Tuscany, and during the summer will be exhibiting at the Fira Internacional de Ceramica in Argentona (Barcelona) and the Argilla Festival in Ravenna. I will also be showing my work at  events in the U.K., including the ‘Ceramics in the City’ Exhibition at the Geffrye Museum in London in October.

I am currently working on a new range of porcelain vessels decorated with designs inspired by Dutch landscapes in spring and a  new range of jewellery influenced by the colours and patterns of Pisano’s cathedral in Sienna.
