Gabrielle Izen is a designer creating stationery, decorative artwork and gifts from her studio in Kent. She studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Chelsea School of Art and is very fortunate to have been taught by Quentin Blake.

She produces the work by hand using traditional methods of illustration, lettering and modern calligraphy; dip pens, Japanese reed pens, brushes, inks, water colour paints and papers. Typography and decorative fonts are used in some of the designs.

The theme of love and friendship plays a big part in Gabrielle's work and many of the designs feature messages of love, celebration and appreciation. Uplifting, humorous sayings and famous quotes are also used in some the designs. Her love of old books, romantic verses and Jane Austen has inspired her designs.

Gabrielle is keen to support UK industry so all the print and production is done in Kent, and the envelopes are made in a traditional Yorkshire mill. They match the cards and are 150gsm which give a feel of luxury. The mounts are cut in the traditional way at a local framers.

Time is taken to create the artwork, so it's s a real labour of love. Gabrielle endeavours to produce original and beautiful artwork that people love to give and receive. She's proud to say her work is made in England!

Gabrielle's work has been recognised by Theo Paphitis of Dragon's Den fame when he chose her business as one of 6 winnners in his Small Business Sunday awards.
