ArtForm: CityShowcase Act/Composer

Discovered four years ago when asked to sing in a crowd at the bustling Jazz Cafe in London, Charlene has since been on a whirlwind journey, which has seen the release of her critically acclaimed debut album "Good Day".

This songtress has worked with an array of musical talents on both sides of the Atlantic, including Omar, Zed Bias, Groove City Entertainment and Hil St Soul’s producer, but it was her single “Second Nature” from the compilation album Soul Independence that brought her to the fore, which she followed up with her debut album, Good Day. She has appeared on television and radio, recording live sessions for London Live, Arise TV, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio London and BBC Radio Manchester. She has opened for The Floacist, Omar and Jon B at the notorious Jazz Café and performed for luxury outerwear brand Duvetica and Vogue in Italy.

Charlene’s lyrical aptitude demonstrates an insightful and emotionally sophisticated female living in a modern, urban world. But despite the concrete surroundings in which many of her tales are told, she can certainly take you to a higher place with her vocals. She doesn’t rely on vocal gymnastics to keep you captivated. Instead, it is her rich, earthy tone that encapsulates a vulnerable yet versatile voice, which makes this multi-faceted vocalist someone to look out for.
