Category : Music, New Zealand
Article Post Date: Monday 11.10.2010

The international producer of talent finding music festival City Showcase, Nanette Rigg said the ripple effects of Ian Morris’s death would be felt around the world.

Ms Rigg, based in the UK, said City Showcase – Spotlight New Zealand was grateful for the campaign Ian Morris had waged to re-open Napier’s entertainment venue the Cabana.

“Ian’s recognition of the importance of entertainment and having a place for people to perform will be sorely missed by the music industry.’

The Cabana will be one of the main venues for the City Showcase – New Zealand festival being held in Napier at the end of November.

“Ian Morris can be seen as an inspiration to young musicians everywhere and his early success with Th’ Dudes shows how dreams can come true for aspiring and talented performers.”

Ms Rigg said it was hoped that one of the City Showcase evening acts would include a tribute to Ian Morris and his music.

City Showcase is a not for profit organisation which has been finding new talent in the UK since 2003. The Napier event on 25-28 November will mark the first event outside of London.
