Napier’s iconic Soundshell on Marine Parade will play host to the final act in New Zealand’s newest music festival, City Showcase: Spotlight New Zealand, on 28th November.
The Soundshell, situated on Marine Parade in the seaside city of Napier, Hawke’s Bay, was born out of the devasting 1931 earthquake after which a large part of the city was rebuilt in the Art Deco style popular at the time.
Finding the Future will feature the top acts chosen by the public from those performing over the previous 3 days. They will be joined by the winners of the Radio Network competition winners, Phil Edwards Band.
These new and emerging bands will be endorsed by headliners, Lisa Crawley and Autozamm with I am Giant, who are fast becoming the name on people’s lips. I am Giant are London-based, so a great opportunity to see them back on home soil.
The applicant bands will perform in front of a mic’d up industry panel, including Campbell Smith (CEO of The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand Inc (RIANZ), who also has his own Management Company, CRS Music Management Limited), Ian James (Managing Director, Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia and recipient of a Midem Masters Award) and Mike Chunn (CEO of the Play It Strange Trust which implements music programmes for New Zealand school and former member of the New Zealand bands Split Enz and Citizen Band) and Teresa Patterson the Manager of the headline act, I am Giant. The ultimate winner will be invited to travel to London to play City Showcase in London in May 2011.
