VINCE FREEMAN Vince is a 28-yar old singer/songwriter with a natural gift for performing live. During the past year he has been gigging on a regular basis, sharing stages with the likes of Paolo Nutini, James Morrison, and Nizlopi at prestigious venues from Bush Hall to London's Cobden Club and The Bedford. Jamie Cullen recently approached Vince at his gig at The Ginglik and complimented him on his songs. Jamie asked Vince what label he was on and was very surprised that he was currently unsigned. Vince currently has 15,000 genuine plays on Myspace plus a mailing list of over 2000 fans. Throughout 2006 ,Vince spent time writing and gigging in the UK and France, and has just been in the studio to lay down some new songs produced by Stewart Eales, who has worked with Elton John, Chris Rea and Dave Gilmour to name a few. Sharon Dean Music Management now believe that Vince Freeman is more than ready to be signed and we have just started label and publisher shopping. At this early stage we have had interest from Joel Harrison of Island Records and Frank Ferguson Head of A&R EMI Music Publishing. In the next 6months our intention is to approach well targeted labels and publishers with a view to getting Vince a deal that all parties are comfortable and excited with. Vince will also be stepping up the number of live gigs that he does and he will be gigging nationwide and appearing at a number of festivals in the UK and the rest of Europe http://www.myspace.com/vincefreeman
JIM PALMER Brought up with a strong musical heritage, being the son of the late music legend Robert Palmer, Jim evolved his song-writing drawing from a rich and diverse vein of influences. A prolific writer, he has developed a beautifully trans-global sound for his own performance whilst also writing songs in a variety of genres. Jim advances the classic skills of the traditional singer songwriter into the 21st century, blending wistful lyrics and melody into a magical soundscape. Jim is signed to Blue Mountain Music, the publishing company owned by Chris Blackwell of Island Records fame, who of course also worked closely with Jim's father Robert, SongLink is delighted to present Jim Palmer at City Showcase in what will be one of his first London appearances.
TIM HAIN Singer, guitarist, writer and performer Tim Hain, is above all a character, whose experience in playing blues guitar for visiting reggae artists has resulted in a new musical genre he calls 'Bleggae', described as "a breathtaking fusion of Blues and Reggae," according to 'Blues in Britain' magazine. His new album, "One Man Went To Mojo" brilliantly showcases this unique style. The album has gathered rave reviews, notably from the usually conservative blues press. Tim is also a gifted songwriter of the old school - think Bob Marley meets Al Green and James Taylor in a Chicago warehouse! - and has also co-written with the likes of Narada Michael Walden (writer and producer of hits for Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and George Michael); Maggie Ryder ("You're The Voice"); Kit Hain ("Dancing In The City"); Zakiya Hooker, daughter of blues legend John Lee Hooker; and Sting's guitarist Dominic Miller - their song 'River of Tears' is featured on Tim's first album 'Sunny Side Up'. Tim's regular Sunnyside Up band also includes 'the drummer currently known as Prince' (when he's not touring with one of the UK's three top reggae bands!) and singer-songwriter Clea Llewellyn (when she's not touring as featured vocalist with the the legendary Jah Wobble, or fronting her own band, Mooli). "An artist I admire enormously." - Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2. "Excellent - the best I've heard for some time." - Bill Wyman.
MICHELLE NADIA New Zealand singer songwriter Michelle Nadia has been writing and performing her songs since the age of 18. Michelle released her single 'Stars' and accompanying music video in New Zealand in April 2006. The track received radio play and was also used on Air New Zealand flights as part of the Whakanui Boarding Video. She has recently finished recording her second single "Ache for Beauty" and is presently performing shows around London to great acclaim. http://www.myspace.com/michellenadia
THE DAVE STARK FIVE SongLink editor/publisher David Stark has always played drums and continues - even at his advanced years! - to perform live with various bands, such as the John Lennon Experience, Lou Jordan as Elvis, and blues-rockers Stone Free, so it's no surprise that he has decided to close the SongLink showcase with a rockin' set by his very own combo. The band also comprises Phil Nelson (lead vocals & guitar), Richard Rangeley (lead guitar), Mark Laver (bass & vocals) and Daniel Benisty (keyboards/vocals), and will be playing some well known covers by such names as the Beatles, Doors, Who and others. The band recently played a rapturously-received party for a member of the House of Lords, and will also be playing London's Cricketers Club on June 15th. Get ready to rock!! |
